Letters from life-long friends #13

Dear Carmen,
It has felt like an eternity that I have not been able to see you, even though it was just a few months ago that we first met at camp. I feel like I have known you forever. How are you? I wanted to let you know that I have joined the track team this year. Thankfully, there are no tryouts involved to join the team. I am determined not to let you down during the relay race this summer. Have you talked to your parents, are they going to allow you to come to camp this summer? If you’re not going, neither am I. I would hate for us to miss it. Please write back soon, I can’t wait to hear from you.
Your best friend, Ella

Dear Best Friend,
I miss you and wish that we were able to see each other again soon. Do yourself a favor and quit the track team. You have two left legs and besides what if you broke your hand or something and couldn’t write back to me? Summer camp this year isn’t looking hopeful, my parents surprisingly want me around this summer. If you’re waiting for a catch… there is one. I will finally be old enough to work at my parents’ restaurant. Maybe I too should have two left legs, so that I will be too clumsy to work there and they would have to get rid of me this summer. I will let you know how that goes. I guess for your next trip you will need to come see me. There is so much that I need to fill you in on in person. Write back quickly!
With love from your best friend,
Carmen
